Emerging in the 1990s, Corpus-based Translation Studies (cbts) have grown to become a dominant branch of Translation Studies.Focussing on the definition of translation as interlingual communication, the volume gathers nine studies which represent the latest trends in cbts.From a theoretical and methodological perspective, both the innovative corpus-based empirical studies and practical applications in translator training included in this volume have demonstrated an extension of the scope of cbts.The theoretical advances are evidenced by theoretical perspicacity and the incorporation of research methods in adjacent disciplines (e.g., Linguistics, and Translation Process Research), whilst the furtherance in methodology is demonstrated by the meticulously designed corpora, the intricate annotation systems, and the dependence on the leading multivariate statistical tools.Apart from methodological and theoretical advances, this volume also introduces new translation subject forms that are scarcely discussed in previous studies (e.g., Student Translation and Post-editing).The volume focusses not only on the corpus-based analysis of translated language but also on the use of corpora in the field of translator training, both of which have provided readers with a broadened picture of the scope of cbts.Part i gives an overview of the current challenges and future trends in cbts.In Chapter 1, Sylviane Granger and Marie-Aude Lefer conduct an analysis, both qualitatively and quantitatively, on twelve recent corpus-based studies in the translation field for the purpose of reviewing the development of cbts.Data collection, methodologies, and research foci are analysed to identify the existing weaknesses as well as the promising trends in the future.The study shows some noteworthy results, such as a clear ascendancy of parallel corpora over monolingual corpora, and a growing interest in
