摘要
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have found great interest for application in industries, owing to their high mechanical strength, elasticity, and electrical conductivity. It has been shown that their application in the coatings can increase corrosion mitigation performance (CMP) through an increase in coating integrity or hydrophobicity for barrier coatings and an increase in electrical conductivity for sacrificial coatings. However, they usually need modification to have better compatibility with the coating matrix or to increase inhibition characteristics. To this end, several treatments were developed for the modification of CNTs. In this chapter, a wide range of treatments based on oxidation, silanization, polymer grafting, surface decoration with inorganic materials, and corrosion inhibitor loading introduced for modification of CNTs were reviewed.
