Natural Frequencies of Horizontally Curved Beams

The solution of the equations governing the transverse, coupled, free vibration of doubly symmetric, horizontally curved beams is examined in this paper. For curved beams with simple supports, the exact solution to these equations is given. For curved beams with other than simple supports, an approximate solution based on the Rayleigh-Ritz method is presented. Simple formulas for calculating the natural frequencies of horizontally curved beams are given.
