High blood glucose during surgery is more frequent with the rising prevalence of diabetes mellitus throughout the world.Patients with perioperative hyperglycemia are at greater risk of short-term infection, cardiovascular complications and hospital mortality, as well as delayed healing and prolonged hospital stay, which are mainly due to a variety of protein glyeosylation by hyperglycemia.Most studies show that intensive control of perioperative high blood glucose will enable patients to benefit.In clinical practice, maintain glycemia in a stable level by reasonable preoperative assessment, strict monitoring during operation and effective postoperative management, can significantly reduce perioperative morbidity and improve survival rates for patients.
