摘要
Long-wear color cosmetics continue to be one of the most popular make-up categories sought after by consumers. The consumers would like to look flawless all day long, while pursuing active and personalized lifestyles. Thanks to booming E-commerce, independent (“Indie”) brands movement, make-up influencers and digitization of beauty trends, more consumers across the globe have been able to purchase, virtually experience, and use these long-wear finished products in their daily routines. An ideal long-lasting color cosmetic product is a product that will give the same look throughout the day, be able to resist sweat and sebum, and provide a great look with minimum or no re-application. These changes in consumer behavior and universalization of the needs have pushed the cosmetic industry to formulate in new ways while maintaining long-lasting performance in color cosmetic products. In this chapter, fundamental physico-chemical properties of pigments and fillers that are critical to reduce the effects of sweat, sebum, to provide rub resistance, and/or enhance the mechanical properties of the cosmetic films have been reviewed. The effects of pigment wetting, incorporation of pigments and fillers to increase adhesion in long-lasting face foundation, lip and eye make-up, and nail products have been reviewed in this chapter.
