This chapter presents the applications of MXene membranes and nanosheets. MXene membranes can be used for the pervaporation-based dehydration of various solvents. In addition to pure MXene membranes, MXene-based mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) have also received increasing attention. Compared with pure polymer membranes, the alcohol fluxes through the MMMs were increased by 30 and 162%. More recently, Shamsabadi et al. introduced 2D Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene nanosheets into Pebax-1657 to improve its separation performance. 2D MXenes are considered to be one of the most promising membrane materials and offer a great potential for developing high-performance membranes. However, to utilize MXene membranes in practically large industrial separation processes, many challenges need to be addressed and solved. The chapter discusses some challenges and the development trend of MXene membranes.
