Flame retardant PP composite was prepared with ammonium polyphosphate/phosphorus-containing triazine polymer/pentaerythritol (APP/FTP/PER) as additive. The effects of the content of FTP and the flame retardant system on the mechanical properties of the flame retardant PP composite were investigated. The results showed with the addition of APP/PER, the Izod impact strength and flexural modulus of the composite were improved, but the tensile strength and elongation at break of the composite decreased. The addition of FTP had no little effect on the Izod impact strength and flexural modulus of the composite, but made the tensile strength and elongation at break of the composite decreased. Compared with pure PP, the Izod impact strength and flexural modulus of the composite added with 29% APP/PER/FTP (3/1/2) increased by 62.0% and 14.3%, respectively, while the tensile strength and elongation at break of the composite decreased by 13.9% and 91.0%, respectively.
