Objective:To explore the significance of cerebrospinal fluid of IL 8,G CSF in children with central nervous system infection. Methods:IL 8,G CSF concentrations of cerebrospinal and serum were measured by ELISA in 59 patients with viral meningitis or encephalomeningitis, 22 patients with bacterial meningitis, 10 patients with tuberculous meningitis and 21 children with no central nervous system infection as the control. Results:IL 8 concentration of patients were significantly higher than the control(P0.05),but between the patient's groups no differences was found. Conclusions:IL 8 plays a role in the inflammatory process of central nervous system infection, but it is not of much value in differential diagnosis.
