Using copper chloride as the precursor and sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) as the additive, the dendrite-like copper crystals were successfully fabricated by electrochemical deposition at the room temperature. The morphology and structure of the dendrite-like copper crystals with micrometer size and face-centered cubic structure were characterized by using scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD).Through the investigation for the effect of the experimental parameters, such as the electrodeposition time, the voltage and the concentration of sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS),on the shapes of dendrite-like copper crystals, the formation process was studied and it went through the nucleation, growth and revegetation process.
