Correlations of the Modulus of Elasticity among Poplar Log,Veneer and LVL Based on the Stress Wave Method

The stress wave method was employed to measure the dynamic modulus of elasticity(MOE)of a group of poplar logs,corresponding veneers,and laminated veneer lumber(LVL)products to assess the quality of the veneer and LVL.LVL dynamic MOE values were in good agreement with static MOE values measured by bending test(R0.90.The correlations among log,corresponding veneer and LVL products were also researched.Experimental results indicated that the stress MOE of the poplar logs had a strong correlation with the dynamic MOE of veneer and LVL products(R0.80).
