The objective of the study of Women Aboard Ship (WAS) was to investigate physiological, sociological, and psychological habitability design considerations associated with WAS. Major conclusions of the study were: women work well in all departments of the ship (with the exception of the engineering department); they improve the morale of the crew--a healthy coed situation exists; women cause no major shipboard problems; and, no major changes in habitability for WAS are required.
