Determination of palmatine and berberine in the Jinji capsules by HPLC

OBJECTIVE To establish an HPLC assay method for the determination of palmatine and berberine in the Jinji capsules.METHODS HPLC analysis was carried out by using ODS column and a mixture of acetonitrile-water (containing 1% H 3PO 4,1% triethyl amine and 0.3% SDS) (40∶60) as mobile phase. The detection wavelength was 350 nm and flow rate was 1.0 mL·min -1 .RESULTS A linearity was obtained for palmatine (r= 0.9996 )and berberine (r= 0.9997 ), and the recovery was 99.2% for palmatine and 98.8% for berberine.CONCLUSION This method is sensitive and accurate.
