A Study on the Efficacy and Safety of Desloratadine in the Treatment of Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria

Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of desloratadine and loratadine of treatment for chronic idiopathic urticaria.Methods A multicentre,double blind,randomized,comparetive study was conducted.Results 158 subjects completed the trial in 4 centres,including 79 cases in desloratadin group and 79 cases in loratadine group.All symptom scores decreased significantly after treatment in both groups.The score decrease of symptoms had no significantly difference between two groups( P 0.05).At the end of the treatment,efficacy assessment based on symptom score reducing index showed that the affective rate of desloratadine and loratadine group were 89.9% and 87.3%,the clinical cure rate were 75.95% and 68.35%.No serious adverse events was recorded.Conclusion Desloratadine is safe and effective in the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria.
