The paper explores Xue Fan’s compensation methods in translating English songs from a functional perspective and views this issue in terms of compensation in kind,compensation in place,compensation by merging,compensation by splitting.Some typical examples are analyzed in depth.Conclusion is then reached that those compensation methods should be applied and combined flexibly by song translators to serve their translation purposes.
