Infrared absorption spectrometry has been performed on the structure of amphoteric polyacrylamide.It was found that sodium-2-methylpropanesulfonate(NaAMPS),2-(methacryloyloxy)-ethyltrim-ethlammonium chloride(MADQUAT),and acrylamide(AM) existed on the chains of amphoteric polyacrylamide.The studies on the intrinsic viscosity changing with the concentration of NaCl and CaCl2 indicated the amphoteric polyacrylamide showing high salt-tolerance,and the intrinsic viscosity changing with CaCl2 was more obvious.The studies on the intrinsic viscosity changing with pH found that it was influenced hardly far from IEP.
