Influence of silica sources on structure of silica MCM-41 mesoporous molecular sieves

MCM 41 mesoporous molecular sieve was synthesized from sodium silicate, tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTMA).Influence of different silica sources on synthesis of MCM 41 was investigated by XRD, IR and TG DTG. Possible mechanisms for the synthesis were discussed. Experiment showed that properties of the silica MCM 41 synthesized from TEOS were superior than that from sodium silicate.
