Structural Study of Curvularin, a Cell Division Inhibitor

The structure of the fungal metabolite curvularin, a spindle poison, has been determined by X-ray crystallographic methods. The conformation of the macrocyclic lactone ring in the solid state and that deduced from n.m.r. studies in solution are similar.
