Menière's disease

Clinical history is usually sufficient to make a diagnosis of Meniere's disease. An excess of endolymph fluid (endolymphatic hydrops) occurs in Meniere's disease. Sudden drainage of the excess endolymph may cause vertigo. Medical treatment aims to reduce the excess endolymph before a build-up causes an attack. A new non-drug hyperpressure machine can help some suffers. Surgery for Meniere's disease should be considered with caution. (author abstract)
