Research on Application of Mobile SVG for Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals

Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) is one of the key technologies for Commerce At Light Speed (CALS). The use of Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) in the PDA-based IETM is wide promising. This paper firstly analyzes the advantages and characteristic of Mobile SVG application for the PDA devices, and then presents the process of creating Mobile SVG illustration complying with IETM Standards. End of this paper, a prototype system for PDA-based IETM is constructed, and the implementation technique of SVG applying to the specialized IETM browsing system is also studied and provided.
