ABSTRACT Development of psychodynamic psychotherapy services has not been a priority in recent years, and existing services have a responsibility to provide impetus for growth and development of provision across the . Southern Counties Psychotherapy is a federation of psychodynamic psychotherapy services providing a Clinical Training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy within the NHS, linked to an M.Sc. in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in Health Service Settings. This is a rigorous analytic training, to the standards of the UKCP PPP Section, specifically addressing realities of practice within the NHS and the relationship to broader mental health services. The core philosophy is that good quality psychodynamic psychotherapies can only be available for populations if good quality psychodynamic psychotherapy training is also readily available. We offer this description of the course and its background as encouragement for others who may want to set up similar projects, and to invite collaborators.
