A SINGAPORE GIANT (GIGANTISM WITH ACROMEGALY): UNTREATED WITH LONG SURVIVAL

Pituitary gigantism is a rare condition; untreated, survival past middle age is uncommon. A Chinese man, aged 51 years, with pituitary gigantism and acromegaly is described. He is probably one of the oldest surviving untreated pituitary giants. His height is 7 ft 1 in. He has marked kyphosis, non-toxic goitre, hypertension, cardiomegaly and large nasal polypi. The literature of gigantism and acromegaly is briefly reviewed.
