Determination of phenolphthalein in phenolphthalein tablets by HPLC

Objective To establish a method for the determination of phenolphthalein in phenolphthalein tablets Methods The separation was performed on HPLC.The mobile phase was methanol-phosophoric acid solution(0.05%)(70:30)at a flow rate of 0.8 ml/min.The detection wavelength was at 275nm.Results The linear of phenolphthalein was in the range of 10.00～250.00 mg/L(r=0.9999).The average recovery was 100.10% and RSD was 0.27%(n=5).Conclusion The method is convenient,accurate and reproducible.It can be suitable for controlling the quality of phenolphthalein tablets.
