Screening and identification of Monacolin K-production Monascus with low citrinin

The samples from Gutian,Fujian were isolated and purified for Monacolin K yield Monascus strains with low citrinin level. The Monascus strains were selected directly by solid fermentation,and preliminarily catalogued by morphologic analysis combined with molecular identification. A new functional Monascus strain NW3-2 was obtained. The content of toxic citrinin was lower than national standards,and the contents of hypolipidemic ingredient of acid form and lactones form Monacolin K were 3.20 and 2.47 mg·g-1,respectively.
