Changes of Serum Nitric Oxide in Patients with High Altitude Pulmonary Edema

Objective To study the changes of content of serum nitric oxide (NO) in patients with high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE). Method In the experiment, the content of NO in the serum was measured in 34 cases with HAPE before and after clinical cure and 20 cases served as healthy control. Result The results showed that the concentration of NO was significantly lower in HAPE patients than before clinical treatment (P0.01), and in the concentration of NO there was no difference between the HAPE patients after clinical cure and the healthy controls (P0.05). Conclusion NO participated in the course of HAPE.
