THE EFFICACY AND SAFETY OF PROMESTRIENE CAPSULE AND CREAM IN TREATING POSTMENOPAUSAL ATROPHIC VAGINITIS

The efficacy and safety of promestriene capsule and cream were investegated in 60 patients with postmenopausal atrophic vaginitis. They were divided randomly into experiment group and control group. There were 30 cases in each group. Promestriene capsule 10 mg and cream 1g was used in vagina and vulva once a day in experiment group. Conjugated estrogen cream 0.625 mg was used in vagina once a day in control group. Vaginal pathologic index and mature index were scored at baseline and after 20 days treatment. Serum E2 and FSH were measured at the same time. Results showed that pathologic index decreased while mature index increased significantly in both group. There was no difference between two groups. Serum E2 which increased in control group had no change in experiment group. Promestriene capsule and cream are safe and efficacious for treating postmenopausal atrophic vaginitis.
