摘要
The importance of art appreciation is increasing in Japanese education. However, the existing display media, as teaching tools, do not adequately present artworks for study. Existing teaching tools are incapable of accurately depicting the scale or scope of the actual work or provide a stereoscopic view of an art piece from different directions. Therefore, we examined technologies to achieve these functions and then proposed a trial presentation display medium, the VR-SM (Virtual Reality - School Museum), using virtual-reality technology. We conducted an art appreciation experiment with high school students to compare VR-SM with conventional presentation media. Consequently, the high school students in our study found that VR-SM was the most suitable medium for reflecting actual size and for appreciating the artwork from many directions.
