DIRECT DETERMINATION OF LIFETOMES OF SINGLET OXYGEN IN VARIOUS SOLVENTS

A Nd:YAG pulsed laser was used to excite photosensitizers to induce the generation ofsinglet molecular oxygen in sclution. The lifetimes of O2 (1△g) in various solvents weredetermined by monitoring the phosphorescence at 1270 nm. Experimental results reveal thatthe phosphorescence lifetime of singlet oxygen in solution depends mainly on the propertyof solvents used.
