Preserving conceptual clarity: why hypersensitivity pneumonitis should remain a separate entity from bronchiolocentric interstitial pneumonia

We read with interest the recent manuscript, “Update of the international multidisciplinary classification of the interstitial pneumonias: an ERS/ATS statement” by Ryerson et al. [1]. We commend the authors for the considerable effort invested in refining the terminology and definitions within this complex field of interstitial lung diseases. Such initiatives are essential to advance clarity and consistency in clinical practice and research.
