At present, commercially available watertight cables have problems such as poor resistance to bending, poor resistance to longitudinal water pressure, lacking airtightness, and the presence of halogens. These problems seriously affect the application of longitudinal watertight cables. This study aims to prepare a non-drying sealant using polyisobutylene as the matrix and KH570-modified white carbon black as the filler. The rheological and adhesive properties were studied to explore the formula of sealant. The obtained sealants can be used for pilot production of longitudinal watertight cables, and the displacement of produced longitudinal watertight cables after maintaining a water pressure of 10 MPa for 6 h is less than 6.4 mm. Moreover, the cables did not leak air after maintaining a gas pressure of 0.5 MPa for 0.5 h. This study provides new ideas for the production and manufacturing of longitudinal watertight cables and promotes the application of non-drying sealants in the field of cables.
