Design of Efficient MCF-to-PIC Couplers with Double-Sided Dielectric Metasurface

We design versatile double-sided metasurface devices for efficient coupling between multicore fibers and photonic integrated circuits. Simultaneous conversions of polarization, array pitch, and spot sizes are demonstrated for Si and SiN waveguides with <1.3-dB loss.
