摘要
In highly loaded gears, damping rings can be installed in grooves under the rim. The damping effect is the result of differential strains in the contact surface. Previous published articles have developed a theoretical approach on simple structural modes. However, gears are cyclic symmetric structures, and the vibration phenomena encountered on resonances are propagating wave vibrations on diameter modes. The theory taking into account the propagating waves is developed. It is shown that the efficiency of the damper is linked to its transverse area. It is also explained why a single damper can be efficient to damp several diameter modes.
