Horizontal displacement measurement of foundation piles is an important guarantee to ensure the safety of foundation pit excavation. In order to solve the problems of limited number of FBG(fiber Bragg grating)s in series on a single fiber and low accuracy of distributed optical fiber Brillouin strain measurement in the horizontal displacement measurement of deep foundation piles, this study developed an OFDR (optical frequency domain reflectometry)-based inclination sensor with temperature self-compensation and a deformation measurement method for inclinometer pipe based on this sensor which was validated by modeling test. Finally, a case study of horizontal displacement monitoring of foundation piles in deep foundation pit excavation was conducted. The experimental and on-site monitoring data show that the OFDR-based inclination sensors have good sensing characteristics and several OFDR-based inclination sensors installed in one inclinometer pipe share a single optical channel, which can effectively measure the continuous horizontal displacement of the foundation pile.
