Lately, fluorescent sensors utilizing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have garnered significant interest for their exceptional capabilities in sensing. Not only do these fluorescent probes offset the numerous limitations of conventional detection methods, but they also offer notable benefits like affordability, user-friendliness, superior visualization and heightened sensitivity. Their extensive use is evident in the realm of research on sensing technology. This review methodically examines the advancements in research on MOFs as fluorescent indicators for ion detection from 2022 to 2024, delving into the design tactics, structural attributes, luminescent features and detection methods of MOFs, offering a comprehensive examination and perspective on the forthcoming evolution of MOF-based fluorescent probes.
