Study on measuring starch content of lotus seed with polarimetry

HCl Hydrolysis-DNS method was used to determine the starch content of lotus seed crude starches and lotus seed powder,but this method was not easy to operate and had a bad property of reappearance.The characteristic that starch was optically active was adopted to require specific rotations using purified starches made from lotus seeds,and it came to the conclusion that 1% HCl polarimetry was suitable to measure the starch content of lotus seed crude starches and lotus seed powder.This method not only operates easily but contributes to high accuracy.
