Optimization of fermentation medium for trehalose production by permeabilized alcohol yeast cells

In order to enhance the trehalose accumulation in permeabilized alcohol yeast,single-factor test and response surface methodology were used to optimize the fermentation medium.All tested factors have significant effect on the trehalose accumulation as following order: yeast extractsucrosesodium chloride.The optimal fermentation medium was obtained as sucrose concentration 32.5 g/L,level of yeast extract 14.7 g/L,sodium chloride concentration 27.4 g/L in which the yield of trehalose reached 0.931 9 g/L.
