Progress of Electrowetting

This paper reviewed the background and theory of electrowetting. The principle of single layer and triple layer architecture colorful electrowetting display was introduced. Electrowetting displays showed low power consumption, a video-rate response time and rich colors comparing with those of other display technologies. Electrowetting displays are generally considered to be one of the main display technologies for the future. The applications in other fields, obstacles and prospect of electrowetting was also pointed out.
