摘要
A Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) renders images at a rate that varies with content properties. Displaying a sequence of GPU rendered images at fixed refresh rate causes artefacts such as stutter and tearing. Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) displays eliminate such artefacts by displaying an image as soon as the GPU renders it and then holding it till next image is available. This eliminates stutter and tearing and minimizes latency through the system. Building a Variable Refresh Rate display using an LCD panel poses several challenges for which solutions are described in this paper.
