Infographics: a tool for designing and visualizing data for library services

In the present information age influenced by big data, there is a major concern of content overload. a considerable amount of information is not retained as they are discarded or forgotten. Infographics or Information graphics is the visualization of complex data that can be easily understood and retained. It elucidates the information through illustrations, short explanations and through charts and graphs. The information is blend with the design to communicate It concisely to the audience. This paper discusses the history of infographics, anatomy of infographics, tupes of infographics, tools used for making infographics, and use of Infographics in libraries. Considering the potential of infographics, library professionals and libraries need to create and utilize them for performance and instructional needs.
