Swirl flow can effectively form instability flow and secondary flow to intersify micro-flow mixture and reduce thickness of boundary layer, which leads to the heat transfer enhancement of swirl flow.The type of swirl-flow mainly includes decaying swirl flow and non-decaying swirl flow.The heat transfer enhancement characteristics with decaying swirl flow is investigated experimentally in this paper. Based on experimental and analyzed results, the decaying heat transfer and resistance characteristics of decaying swirl flow are studied in details. The effect of a decaying swirl flow due to different generating types on heat transfer enhancement is also considered and analyzed. The experimental and analyzed results provide a necessary basis for the application of decaying swirl flow in power plant and waste heat boilers
