Characteristics Analysis of New Sugarcane Variety Yuetang 04-252

Ability and stability of cane and sugar yield,sucrose content,population structure analysis,correlation analysis,multiple regression analysis,path analysis and determination coefficient analysis were undertaken among yield and its components of the new variety Yuetang 04-252.The results of ability and stability analysis indicated that cane and sugar yield,sucrose content of Yuetang 0-04-252 were higher than ROC 22,which was little impacted by environment,and better adaptability.Structural analysis of yield and its component factors showed that the optimum population structure of 100-110 t/hm2 should have the millable stalk between 7.0 and 8.1 ten-thousand branches/hm2,stalk length between 229.0 and 279.0 cm,stalk diameter between 2.55 and 2.95 cm.Correlation among yield and its components revealed extremely significant correlation and the relationship between yield and stalk number and stalk diameter were most significant.There was linear relationship between yield and its components from the result of multiple regression analysis.Path coefficient analysis and determination coefficient analysis in the case of yield components showed that,the stalk diameter was the most important character with the highest direct effect on cane yield relative to stalk length and stalk diameter.The difference of path coefficients of these traits reached extremely significant.In conclusion,Yuetang 04-252 was a new good sugarcane variety which had the desirable characteristics of more stalk number,medium height and medium to medium large stalk,so stalk diameter and number were the most traits to the yield taking account of stalk length.
