Current Status and New Advances in the Treatment of Liver Cancer by Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic therapy(PDT) is a treatment modality that use laser light of a specific wavelength to activate the phofosensitizer which is more accumulated in the tumor,and great amount of oxygen is producecl to destroy the tumor.In this paper,Current status is reviewed in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma by photodynamic therapy,and some new advances in this field are reported.The further applications and development of PDT are also predicted.It is concluded that the treatment has the advantage of good efficiency,minimal invasiveness,more safity to metastatic patients.Therefore it is worth generalizing in clinical application.
