Objective To establish the reference range of blood manganese(Mn) of pre-school age in Suzhou. Methods Samples were digested by microwave, and then determined by ICP-AES, statistical processing of data on children's blood manganese content were conducted by Clinical laboratory(C28-A2) file NCCLS released, and the reference range was defined. Results The within-run CVw was 1.6%-2.1%, the between-run CVb was 2.0%-2.4%, the bias was 0.52%-0.68% and the relative expanded uncertainty was 5.23%-6.52%. The standardized recovery rate was 96.7%-98.1%. The reference range of Mn was 4.72-11.45μg/L(male: 4.76-11.51μg/L, female: 4.70-11.42μg/L). The reference range of Mn had no difference with sex(P0.05). Conclusion This method is simple and reliable. The reference range in the study is agreed with the population characteristics of pre-school age children in Suzhou, and the analyzer can be applied in clinical usage.
