The IL-23/IL-17 axis in the immunopathogenesis of psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by abnormal activated T cells infiltration.Recently,Th17 cells and IL-23/ IL-17 axis has being recognized as a key player and potential therapeutic target in psoriasis.IL-23 is able to induce Th17 cell activation with production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-17A,IL-17F,IL-22.Th17-related cytokines play a functional role in psoriasis and other autoimmune diseases.
