Thioglycolate Complexes of Trivalent Lanthanum, Cerium, Praseodymium, Neodymium, Samarium, Gadolinium, Terbium, Dysprosium, Holmium, Erbium, Thulium, Ytterbium and Lutetium

Department of Chemistry, Regional Engineering College, Rourkela-769 008 Manuscript received 9 September 1980, revised 21 May 1984, accepted 29 April 1985 The formation of 1 :1 and 1 : 2 comnlexes of rare earth ions (Ln^III - La^III , Ce^III, Pr^III, Nd^III, Sm^III, Gd^III, Tb^III, Dy^III, Ho^III, Er^III, Tm^III, Yb^III, Lu^III) with thi oglycolic acid (H₂TG) have been studied-pH-metrically. The equilibrium for the reactions, Ln²⁺+H₂TG^{\(\rightleftharpoons\)}C²⁺+H+ C^{2+\(\rightleftharpoons\)}C+H⁺ and Ln³++2H₂TG^{\(\rightleftharpoons\)}\(C_1^+\)2+2H⁺, \(C_1^+\)₂ ^{\(\rightleftharpoons\)}C _{1 2} +H⁺, have been determined. .
