Lewis acid-mediated 1,2-aryl/alkyl migration-aromatization of fused 3-oxindoles derived from spiro-oxindoles via ring-closing metathesis enables rapid access to structurally diverse and emissive pyrido[1,2- a ]indoles under mild metal-free conditions.
