The production of blanks and lattice-based support structures for mirrors with intricate geometries can be significantly achieved by metal additive manufacturing (AM) technology. The most commonly used lightweight material for additive manufacturing is AlSi10Mg. A cylindrical sample of 50 mm diameter and a 7 mm thick sample were made using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) technology. In this study, we used a diamond turning machine (DTM) (Model: IUPTM, Make: CMTI) and achieved surface roughness in the order of ~15 nm, measurement was carried out using Talysurf contact type roughness tester and a confocal 3D microscope. This study could boost the ability to manufacture and make lightweight space optical mirrors.
