Smart greenhouse based ESP32 with IoT system for automatic monitoring and control

Abstract Climate change and pest development are two of the many factors that affect the growth of strawberry plants. Extreme weather can damage the growth of strawberry plants because the temperature is too hot or too cold. Optimizing appropriate climate conditions experiences several obstacles because the tools and materials needed are inadequate. This study aims to optimize environmental conditions with the temperature and humidity needed by strawberry plants so that they can grow optimally in the greenhouse. The greenhouse system design is equipped with a DHT11 sensor as a temperature and humidity detector, an ESP32 microcontroller as a temperature control connected to a DC Fan, and a humidifier as a humidity controller in the greenhouse. Two set-points are given to the greenhouse, namely 23°C for temperature and 95% for humidity. The results of this study show the ability of this greenhouse system to maintain optimal environmental conditions with an average temperature of 22.98°C and humidity of 94.93%. The results of observations on strawberry plants in the smart greenhouse showed quite good results, namely an increase in the number of stems, leaves, plant height, and fruit growth.
