Acute Monocular Ophthalmoplegia Associated with Anti-GQ1b IgG Antibody

Some authors found the anti-GQ1b IgG antibody in some of their patients with postinfectious ophthalmoparesis without ataxia, MFS or acute ophthalmoparesis (AO). Antecedent illness, ophthalmoparesis, CSF albuminocytologic dissociation, and the anti-GQ1b IgG antibody are useful markers for diagnosing AO. AO can be considered a variant or atypical form of MFS. We report two monocular AO patients who had the anti-GQ1b IgG antibody along with a literature review.
