The performance of a wet slurry jet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) system was measured in a pilot plant in Shenyang, China. The results show that the absorbed SO_2 per unit volume of slurry is related exponentially to the slurry pH. An increased flue gas volumetric flow rate enhances the droplet surface renewal effect, an increased inlet SO_2 concentration enhances the mass transfer driving force, and an increased recycle slurry flux enhances the droplet agglomeration. The increased flue gas flow rate and inlet SO_2 concentration enhance the desulfurization reaction, while an increased gross inlet SO_2 flow rate reduces the desulfurization efficiency. Increases in the slurry flow rate increase the desulfurization efficiency, which illustrates the advantages of the wet slurry jet FGD.
