The indexes of theoretical B/C and apparent B/C were used to evaluate the effect of anaerobic acidification process to the biodegradability of sugar-peptone manual make-up wastewater. The results showed that for the wastewater of COD from l 064 mg/L to 63 900 mg/L.Their biodegradability declined from 0%to 96%when the apparent B/C index was adopted. But increased by 2% to 21.6% when the theoretical B/C index was intoduced. It indicated that the theoretical B/C index were more reasonable than the apparent B/C index to eval uate the effect of anaerobic acidification process to the biodegradability of sugar-peptone manual make-up wastewater, and the theoretical B/C index Was also applicable to non.Sulfate organic wastewater.Additionally,it showed that the theoretical B/C of the effluent was inclined to decrease along with the increase of COD of the wastewater, and such a tendency was considered to be related to the Acidification Degree(α).When acidification degree was lower, the theoretical B/C of the effluentwouldbe lower.
